A journey....an adventure...a crazy notion. Whatever you want to call it. What it really is going to be is a long trip. Lots of driving. Lots of sites. Hopefully we don't want to kill each other at the end of it!
We woke up at 0400 hours sharp yesterday morning and hit the road. But not before I hit the Starbucks :) And northward we headed. Towards the mountains and towards cooler weather. We saw crazy bike riders, snow capped mountains, and big "Monuments".
We wanted to stand on the Four Corners but the monument was closed. I was very disappointed as it was my first opportunity to visit New Mexico! I really needed that documented proof!
We arrived at our first stop, Durango, at 3:30 p.m. When we planned this trip, we thought it was going to be a nice time to head out. We did not figure it would be "pre" season for a lot of places. So there will be no Silverton Train Trip for us. Their season starts May 8th!! Dang! So instead there will be a little bit of hiking and sight seeing in the area.
We are staying in a cute little bed and breakfast with an absolutely glorious view. I will post more about that later (with pics). For now I leave with a few of the better photos from yesterday. Note: High noon is not a good time of day to take photos at Monument Valley!
